This is a game you will play for years to come.
This game feels like a bit of master of magic, a bit of ultima iv and a bit of age of wonders put together..
When I bought this I was expecting it to be like galactic civilizations in a fantasy world. It is not like galactic civilizations. Each unit in the game matters. You can name them, equip them, train them. It's really quite remarkable.
My only gripe is that the campaign is too much like an rpg. I was expecting it to be a series of hand crafted strategy scenarios but it is instead an adventure experience. It's fun but I wish they had included more scenarios.
This is probably the best strategy game since civilization iv. I have liked it more than any strategy game in recent times. Extra points for the built in modding tools.
