Very challenging adventure game that still seems fun. This is remembered as a classic.

User Rating: 7 | Ecco the Dolphin GEN
Gameplay:

Here, you play as a Dolphin named Ecco. (pretty obvious considering the title) You swim through parts of the ocean to uncover the game's story. You often have to ask certain dolphins and other sea critters for info. While swimming though, you have to keep up with your oxygen meter and your health to survive. Dolphins are mammals, so they can't breathe underwater. So you need to ether go up to the surface or go to an air pocket to get oxygen. The game itself is really hard. The game requires some skill in order to beat the game. I've owned this game for over 10 years, and I STILL can't beat it. Ecco is also pretty long. With Genesis lacking on data capabilities, you can't save your place in Ecco the Dolphin (Hey, it’s an old-school game after) Like most Old-School games, you have to type in a password in order to warp to where you last left off. The game itself features some cool tasks that might involve puzzles. Overall, the gameplay is so-so.

Graphics:

This is a 2D game of course. The ocean bottoms actually look pretty nice. And the water effects for when text is displayed are very nice. The game is also pretty fast, kinda like Sonic games. Overall, a pretty nice-looking Genesis game.

Sound:

The music fits in with the scenes. I don't really like some of the songs here, but they still fit in, and a few are pretty nice. The oceanic sound effects are welcome as well.

Conclusion:

As said before, the game is very challenging. This game might not be for everyone. Hell, I don't even remember how I got this game. It just ended up in my hands it seems. This game isn't failure, definitely, but the game doesn't offer too much fun. Therefore, the game passes as decent.
