If you think the Legacy Editions is over, a lack of licenced teams drags this game to the ground.

The good: The gameplay is much smoother, and the graphics is much cleaner, runs better at 30 frames a second than 60 frames a second, commentary and background sounds makes it authentic.

The bad: Lack of licenced teams, similar gameplay to FIFA23, still feels not in par with the other consoles and PC considering the strength of Nintendo Switch capabilities.

This review won't run long so I'll keep it simple and straightforward. Nintendo's football history (or soccer in other countries) is getting very rocky with the exception of Mario Super Striker series since the GameCube onwards. FIFA09 and World Cup has some catchy and fun gameplay before FIFA10 onwards in which the Legacy Editions dominates, dragging Nintendo down behind the other consoles and PC.

There's nothing wrong with the gameplay and graphics, considering the Frostbite Engine is able to smooth things over, including running the game in 30 fps as opposed to 60 fps which should be good. The sound and commentary is also nice and authentic which fits into the scope of how football should be heard on both TV and handheld devices.

The issues I'm having keeps recurring over and over again. Simply, not all modes from other consoles and PC since the Switch can handle the gameplay aspect very well. But the biggest criticism is the diminished number of licenced teams from around the world. Perhaps my biggest disappointment, no offence or anything, is a lack of Aussie teams. Well actually, Australia is absent from both Men's and Women's international teams. It's sad that I won't be able to play as Sam Kerr, even though she's been seen on screenshots on the Nintendo eShop site. Was it really the developer's decision to omit something as simple as that, despite Aussie TVs showing the Matildas playing against countries around the world all the time? Just like the Socceroos too.

Still, this game still deserves better than that. Plus, if they want to continue this series onwards, they should bring back some teams and stop omitting so many teams if they were still available as a screenshot. If a shot of screenshot of Sam Kerr playing football is there, then there should be an Australian women's team available team to play at any time. Just wish they follow the examples of basketball and baseball games and try to give more variety and replay value, just to keep playing and enjoy what the game is supposed to offer.
