Driver accelerates where GTA stops.

Add me to the GTA comparison list. It's obvious the moment you start to play Driver, it's liking playing GTA in NYC. From the graphics to the sound fx and npc's talking, this is a GTA clone. Now what set this game apart from GTA is the driving physics and handling. This game, apart from True Crime NYC has the best open world to explore, nothing beats NYC. We all know what the story is about, it's not all that great but it is original and a blast to play in both eras. Manhattan is half the size compared to TCNYC but has additional cities to play around in. I get goosebumps everytime I see the Twin Towers from uptown Jersey City. Anyway my only gripe is that TK can't punch, kick or climb fences, especially while being persued by the cops. But this is a driving game and that was the main focus when developing this game. The graphics are also a little too generic, some streets look straight out of Driver from the PS1. It's not as detailed as TCNYC, which I still believe has the best model of NYC. If this game had Driv3r graphics, it would've gave TCNYC a run for it's money in that department. Also the targeting is bad, but not broken and the on foot control is tight, although I'm not too crazy about TK's walk, but oh well. The missions are fun to play and the side missions will get your freeroam fix, I wish there were interiors to play in and have minigames in them but we'll get that in the next Driver. GTA fanboys and reviewers alike will still praise GTA as the undethroned king of the freeroam urban violence genre, but forget one thing, this game is all about driving, driving and more driving, gee I wonder why they choose that name?
