not given a fair chance!

User Rating: 8.5 | Driver '76 PSP
Let me start by saying that the gamespot review is way to harsh and tries to hard to outline the few bad points, driver 76 is a great psp translation of the PS2 driver series.

The Good: great graphics , fun main and side missions, great variety of vehicles,PSP exclusive car customization, huge free roam cities, decent controls, fun police shootouts, excellent visual car damage

The Bad: frequent but minor frame rate issues, annoying music, you die too easily,no checkpoints during missions,

In driver 76 you play.... well,a driver who collects and delivers contraband, steals cars, assasinates politicians and runs a taxi service?!

you begin the game with no cars, money or weapons and must do a few introduction missions to unlock cars, customization and guns for free roam/missions.In many respects such as scenary, vehicles, guns and police driver 76 is very similar to driver 3 on PS2 which is a good thing.

police, collectables and trains make free roam a fairly enjoyable expierience for players who want a break from missions or to practice combat and driving.

Some of the minor set backs include having no health regeneration or pickups which means police chases never go on that long before they pull along side you and shoot you through the window, the other annoyance is the fact that missions have no check points so if you are just about to drop of a stolen car and you roll it then you have to start right at the begining before you even located the car.

finally the frame rate is normally smooth but occasionally there is a few seconds of juttering but that isent a major problem considering the games other strong points.

The best improvement on driver 3 is the car customization which gives you custom vinyls, performance upgrades, bullet proof glass, alternate paint and more.

Overall verdict, it has its problems but driver 76 is a game for the producers to be proud of, i recommend purchasing
