An underrated game that is just fine.

User Rating: 9 | Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story SNES
I remember myself a kid again seeing my cousins play this game. They were having a pretty good time with the game. They must have owned this game because they were Bruce Lee fans, but back then I did not even know Bruce Lee. However, I would soon find out about him because my dad loved Bruce Lee too.

Story: 6/10
- The storyline is supposed to be like the movie but, it is just a half baked version of it. So the players control Lee, and must defeat the sailor from the dance in Hong Kong, the chefs from the Chinese Restaurant in San Francisco, the martial arts master who challenges Lee, amongst others to progress through the game, recalling major action scenes from the movie. However, the video game leaves out valuable plot information from the movie and most of the romantic content between Bruce Lee and his future wife.

Gameplay: 9/10
- The gameplay is really great! In fact, all the fighting in this is what I like most about this game. Players use a variety of martial arts moves to defeat their enemies and build up a chi meter, which can help unleash special moves on their opponents. The game is noted for its difficulty and it takes an expert player to complete or even advance to the later stages. The player has 3 continues, and if lost, they must fight The Phantom (the personification of Bruce's fear who takes the form of an armored Asian warrior) to continue, though he is near invincible. They face The Phantom again at the end as a final boss. When I first fought against The Phantom by losing all 3 of my lives, I got frightened! It probably was because his appearance was terrifying, because I first fought him with my lights out (it even gets dark on the game when you fight him) and because I was a little kid. I used to have nightmares about The Phantom myself; it would be dark and I he would come slowly towards me with his weapon. I do not think I should have played the game at that age, if it was going to give me nightmares...

Graphics: 9/10
- The graphics are great. Bruce Lee and all the opponents look good but, why do the background people look so different compared to Bruce and his opponents?

Sound: 8/10
- The sound effects are all good. I especially liked the sound effects of when Bruce jumps and stomps on his opponent downed body in the game. The music is okay.

Overall, I give this game a 9 out of 10. This is a really fine game, but underrated. I used to not know who Bruce Lee was but, I have all his movies now. I am now just a big a fan as my cousins and my dad.
