User Rating: 6.5 | Dragon Quest VI: Maboroshi no Daichi DS
Dragon Quest 6: Realms of Reverie is an enjoyable throwback to the golden age of JRPGs, however, it's outdated mechanics will leave you feeling frustrated and somewhat exhausted before the game is through.

The Good

- A versatile vocation/class system that allows you to creatively customise your characters' skills, spells and abilities.

- A variety of colourful towns and environments, all brimming with unique personality and flair.

- Utilising both screens while exploring, DQ6 makes good use of the DS.

The Bad

- The narrative lacks direction.

- There are little to no prompts directing you where to go next.

- Random encounters are too frequent, making exploration an arduous task, especially towards the end.

- Saving is a long and tedious process.

While I did enjoy playing DQ6, it's outdated mechanics and lackluster story proved to be too much of a hindrance to fully immerse myself in this revamped fantasy adventure.
