Character creation was what reeled me in as well as the final fantasy button command style play. The rest.....repetative

In my opinion my first impression of this tenkaichi game in the series of dragon ball games were supposed to follow the previous tenkaichi titles. I was wrong and it turns out the entire game was completely alternated both in good and not so good ways.

This game had a cool set up of gameplay. The creators of this title were aiming towards a unique approach of the combat system. The combat system is watered down to a basic 5 hit combo then leading to a cutscene rush sequence. U are given 2 options from that point. One button is the rush combo sequence, the other is the famous teleportation smash sequence. Once executing the rush sequence u can use the directionals to alternate the combat animation.

Who could forget the famous ki blasts and energy waves the games trademark. From a distance ki blasts can be shot rapidly and after a certain amount have been shot and connected with a target it also triggers a combat rush sequence. Rush sequences can be countered with the right timing of the dodge button.

Signature moves, finishers can also be executed when a certain amount of ki is stored up. Unlike the former titles this game gives the opponent a set time to react to the attack. Each button corresponds with a: Dodge, Counter, or knock away.

To me the 2 most attractive things about the game is 1.Character creation and 2.Battle ranges. Character creation is what really pulled me into this game because its cool to dress up your own saiyan with moves, hairstyle/super saiyan, etc.

There are 3 ranges you can go into. One is combat range where the style is 2d/3d form of the game from the original budokai series. The next is blast range where ur feet distant from your enemy yet all u can execute is ki blasts or signature moves or finishers. The last is Free range where you exit all range of combat and move around more freely.

All in all the game was really cool at first. But its weakness was the fact the game was repetative. Everything I described above sure sounded interesting but theres not much more to do aside from my descriptions. The story also wasnt the same kind of story arc order this franchise repeated over the years. Still if the creators had thought of a way to take the repetative factor away then this game would have a better score and be alot more fun to play for a longer time period.
