A very good start for DBZ on the PSP.

Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai is a game for the PSP, as everyone already already knows. It is basically a port of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3, which is on the PS2. When getting this game, I was a bit skeptical about the game, but now I know I had no reason to be.

This game doesn't have everything that made Budokai 3 so great, but if it did, it wouldn't be Shin Budokai, just basically Budokai 3 on the PSP. This game has the Saiyan Overdrive Fighting System, which you would recognize if you played Budokai 3. The game also has the Aura Burst which adds style to the game and gives you new attacks and abilities. The game also features a new character we haven't seen before, Pikkon.

The game looks just as good as Budokai 3. They really did some tweaking with the graphics especially with the auras, which look beautiful by the way. The game retains the flashy transformations that Budokai 3 had as well. The character models look good, and the backgrounds are nice. Overall, the game looks cool. 9/10

The gameplay mechanics are not that different from Budokai 3. Each character has there own unique combos and moves, like it's console counterpart. The Aura Burst, like I mentioned before is also included in the package. There is something I didn't like about Shin Budokai, which I don't think anyone will either, and that would be the profile cards. It was a pretty pathetic attempt to turn on players to Shin Budokai. Not a lot changed from Budokai 3 with gameplay, but for the people who didn't play Shin Budokai, you might enjoy using the Aura Burst.
8/10.

The sound is fairly decent. I thought that it could be a little bit better, but I didn't think it needed that much of inproving. The sound effects sound as if you're fighting in the anime. Good sound nontheless. 8/10.

Overall, this game is great and should not be missed by any DBZ fan. Like I said before, it may not have everything that made Budokai 3 so great, but it's still a very good start for DBZ on the PSP.
