Really good game and a great substitute to Budokai 3.Μostly for DBZ fans though.

User Rating: 8.5 | Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World PS2
I will review this game normally but I will also include some parts that concern DBZ fans/gamers.
First off,the Graphics:9/10 When it comes to graphics, there really isn't much difference between this game and it's predecessor,Budokai 3.The character models and the stages still look as good as they did in the previous installment of the B series. Infinite World sticks to the cell-shaded graphics Budokai 2 and 3 had,and that is really great since cell-shaded graphics really fit this kind of game. The stage explosions and the super huge ultimate beams look amazing! The normal supers still look like they did before. They just don't give that feeling of pain...It's like the characters get hit by water or something. But it's not really a bad thing...Not many would want to imagine a game like this with super painful looking supers.I mean,if the supers looked so destructive, what would the ultimates have to look like?! So overall, all attacks look nice, especially the ultimates...The auras look awesome! They are enjoyable to even look at.Could it be that they actually got the lighting aura colour right this time? Yes they did! The lighting in Super Saiyan 2 and 3 auras is blue this time, with only a few exceptions. All in all, good graphics!

Soundtrack:9/10 Most of this game's music comes from DBZ Budokai 3 but a few tracks are new.The music in this game is great.

Gameplay:9.5/10 : The best fighting system in the Budokai series.Combat is fast paced like always. There have been a few changes in moves for some characters. This time, you don't have to go Hyper mode to do ultimate moves, which is great, since now you don't have to "warn" your opponent that you're going for an ultimate. Also, the super attacks can now be chained to ANY physical combo, any time in the physical combo even when your opponent is blow away. For example, you can throw a punch and then do a super,or you can throw 4 punches and then do the super. Now hyper mode is done different. You gain an attack and defence boost and you are harder to knock back.Your ki(energy) will be drained while on hyper mode, but you will not be left "helpless" after your out of hyper, unlike you would in Budokai 3.If your fatigue gauge is completely filled, you will be inverted back to your normal form and the character will be wide open for an attack. If your opponent attacks you,you can go behind them by teleporting and hit them.If you are fighting your opponent close to the end of the stage and you knock him back,a short scene will take over showing you hitting your opponent(a scene filled with action!!).Unlike the last game, you can't do beam struggles.Annoying,I know.If 2 super beams are fired (almost) simultaneously they will either cancel each other out,or one beam will cancel the other and hit the target depending on their level. Two completely new additions to the fighting system the second throw and the dash which consumes and little ki but allows you to move fast and deliver a strong hit that'll stun your opponent.

Replayability:8.5/10 The fighting and the challenging difficulty of this game are what will make you come back to it very often. The bad thing is,you might get bored of most of the missions because you will have to do them over and over again to get money, since there is no Tournament in this game. You will need the money you have to gain to unlock more slots in customization, new characters, new moves and items, higher move and item levels, stages and costumes.

Content:The story lasts quite a while and after you finish it,you can buy Fighter's Road at the shop which is over 100 fights long,so there is plenty of stuff to do in the game. However, there is no Tournament which is a little disapointing.Although the Tournament mode's absence might seem bad at first, the other mode's make up for it by giving you a lot of things to do.Of course, Tournament would have made this game even better.More modes never hurt...

DBZ game review parts:
Story: 9/10 Much better than most DBZ games. It covers the story from the start of the Saiyan saga to the end of DBGT. It covers all of the important fights as well as some memorable parts of the Dragonball story like Goku running on the Snake Way and the training in the Hyperbolic time chamber, through mini games. There are quite a few of these mini games and most of them are fun to do.Fun enough that you might want to play them at higher difficulty levels . Some other mini games, though, are boring and annoying. There are very few fights that the story doesn't cover, those being in the GT and Other(movie) sagas. All the Fights between the Saiyan and Buu sagas are there, and they are more than you would expect. One of the best story modes in the DBZ game franchise,as it is almost perfect.
Characters: 8.5/10 Good. They took out 3 characters from B3 and added 8(9 counting Syn shenron's transformation).
Moves:9/10 Now more ultimates and supers are available for each character but two important attacks that should have been there, were left out(IT Kamehameha and Final Flash(ultimate))
Shop:This is so much better than the last game's shop! Now you don't have to enter and exit the shop all the time waiting for the right item to appear. That's because every item is there from the time you unlock it.The only downside is that you now have to buy a lot of items which now also include costumes, characters and stages and even level up the items you already have.

Overall: Very good fighting game,Great DBZ game! It has everything that you would want.Awesome fighting,a lot of fights, enough characters and stages. It's just amazing!Ιf you are not a fan of DBZ,I suggest you rent this first,as you may not even care about this game.On the other hand,if you are a DBZ fan, this is a must-have for your collection!
