It's pretty okay, but not worth buying.

There is only one definite reason I liked this game a little, and that's because I liked DBZ when it came out. If you like DBZ then this game will definitely get the job done, and if you don't it an alright game. Sequels are definitely better, graphically and at everything else. Except for the second game's lame story mode board game thing. The graphics are pretty good, but not as good as the later cel shaded ones. Those ones beat the crap out of this game's graphics. It looks alot cooler, but this is the first game so you cannot be hard on it for that. The game is dubbed pretty well and that's great for a licensed game. You don't always see that. The music's okay too.

The game plays like Virtua Fighter on Prozac as IGN says. It's alright and pretty fun sometimes, but not too exciting like its Tenkaichi 2 or Budokai 3 sequels. Those are actually worth purchases. The super moves are cool and all, but there's not enough of them and many of them look alike.

While there's not too many characters as compared to later games like The DBZBT2 which has over 120. I think there's 30 something in this one. But anyway there's a bunch of modes and items to equip your character with and I guess that's just it. The story mode is long enough for the amount of time it covers. It's not bad, but still a rental even if you like DBZ. If you already bought it, then trick someone else into buying it.
