Dragonball Z: Budokai doesn't bring anything new to the fighting genre, it just has the Dragonball Z license.

GOOD: Great story mode follows the Saiyan Saga to the Cell Games, great graphics, the whole game is the core of what Dragonball Z is.

BAD: The game has no real special features, buying and editing skills isn't as easy as it could be.

This game is a pretty average fighter with all the twists of Dragonball Z involved like the energy attacks, the transformations, the characters, and the all around action that is Dragonball Z.
The graphics on this game are a great mix of traditional 3-D and cel-shaded. The story mode follows the Saiyan Saga to the Cell Games Saga and it does it pretty well, it has cut-scenes that re-enact the actual show, sometimes instead of fighting you have to complete a certain goal, for instance; you have to make Raditz get hit by Piccolo's Special Beam Cannon at the beginning of the story. The story mode won't take you long and you'll probably finish it within a day, but if you want more you'll unlock bonus episodes that continue the story or tell something off-topic, overall the story has a little variety and it should play out well enough to keep you entertained.
Other than the Story mode you got Duel, were you fight friends or computers in a one on one battle,Tournament, were you compete to earn money to buy skills, and Practice to hone your fighting skills. You can also Edit characters with custom attacks and items to give you an edge on the competition. You can also buy skills. Buying skills sort of sucks, because in the store you have one of evey type of skill capsule (it doesn't tell you what the skill is), a gamble capsule which is a random skill from all the skills in the game, and a recommended capsule that tells you what the skill is and it is really recommended that you buy your skills from this capsule unless you want multiples of every other skill. Overall Dragonball Z: Budokai delivers on what it tries to deliver on, Dragonball Z, but I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone that's not a fan.
