If you have played the previous dbz games and not thought much of it well your mistaken cause budokai tenkaichi is great
There are more than 60 playable characters which make the game much more better than previous dragon ball z games,but unfortunately instead of transforming inside a match like other previous dbz games, in budokai tenkaichi a different form is counted as a different character. for example Goku, ssj1 Goku, ssj2 Goku, ssj3 Goku and ssj4 Goku are all 5 different characters! so that means there ain't 60 totally different people,bit disappointing huh? Maybe you are but cheer up because there are some cool and new modes like Ultimate battle, This is the mode which keeps you running in the game,you have to defeat 100 different characters and obviously as i told you, most of them are just different forms.
The story mode which in this case is called z battle gate is also very long as you have you relive Shenron the dragon's memories and fight rivals and villains starting from Raditz all the way to Kid Buu, but thats not all people, after defeating Buu you unlock some new quick sagas like 1 battle in each saga, that might sound quick but you should know that these villains are harder than Buu for example, you gotta face Broly,Cooler,Super 17 and much more.Also you collect dragon balls in this mode to wish for something.
There is a mode where you use z items that you collect from z battle gate and ultimate battle. Here you can fuse two items to unlock characters and many other cool stuffs like abilities. you can even edit and put z items on to characters to make them even stronger.this mode is called Evolution z. You can go on training mode where you can practice your techniques and there is also a tutorial there for beginners.
The duelings pretty good as well, as you can play against a computer, friend or a com vs a com which is pretty boring!There are lots of places to fight in and to destroy environment which is good.
There is also a world tournament mode.Here you must choose a character and fight in a set of rounds including the quarter and semi-finals to make your way to the finals. You can defeat your opponent in two different ways.You can either k.o him by beating him up until his life bar is empty or you can beat him up until he either touches the floor outside the ring or goes out of bounds, This method is called ringout. There are four different levels.Novice(which is the easiest one)then adept and then advanced and then the hardest, cell games! You can unlock them by doing all levels starting from novice.
The graphics of this game is excellent compared to budokai 3 and overall, I think this game is amazing and if your a dbz fan too,you will love it just as much.The next dbz game is one that no one can wait for.
