Not an improvement from the first

I wrote a well thought out review of Dragon Age: Origins, I stand by it. That game was great, it had the feel of classic RPG's loved and missed by many like NWN. In fact some NWN fans highly recommend the game.
Then thee sequel came out and to my dismay the game was very different. I prefer to game with my Microsoft controller and I still found DA: Origins to be a fun experience, however to make the game more "console friendly" they took all the RPG aspects I loved about DA: Origins and turned them into Action Adventure features with the same back story. I like the idea of the story, they created a new character for your to play in a new territory. These Ideas were great and I was excited to jump in and have as much fun as the first. My downfall wasn't just the complete change in game play the story didn't ream nearly as rich, the maps were overly reproduced on the same models.
I don't tend or like to give bad reviews, and I hate hearing fellow gaming nerds complain about what took someone years to create with effort of creating a great game. This one however failed at holding the interest of the franchise. I might not have room to speak having not completed this game ( a rare thing for me). I saw the change in game play and heard bad reviews and thought "people will complain about anything, lets try the new action based DA game". My disappointment was the hours I spent walking the same shallow paths of either forward or back with a turn here and there and trying to imagine it wasn't the exact same layout that I walked through in a whole "different" part of the world. I'd still love to see another story done as well as Dragon Age: Origins. My hopes aren't dead for NWN style game play.
