Not a bad game.........just not great. (Revised 12-03-05)-very intriguing game and very addictive

User Rating: 8.1 | Down in Flames PC
I had never played the board game "Down in Flames" before I made this purchase, but the game looked interesting. As stated, the PC game is based on a turn-based board/card game. The number if cards you have available to play in each turn depends on the relative strength of your pilots (as well as what aircraft they are flying).
What is frustrating is how the battle can swing greatly depending on what "cards" are drawn by your pilot(s). I have had far superior pilots be shot down because they simply lack one card - and the opposite has occurred as well. In fairness to the game, I have not played the game a great amount of time. And the game can be addictive.
If you are looking for lots of eye candy this is not the game for you. The graphics are suitable for the genre, but they are not anything to write home about. The same can be said for the Sound.
In retrospect, I should have attempted to play the card game before making this purchase to see how I liked it. Don't get me wrong, I am not sad that I purchased the game - I'm just not thrilled that I purchased the game either. Revision: This game is a very good game. Very stable (I've had no problems with the Server connection for online play) The number of players continues to grow and the programmer checks the discussion boards (www.battlefront.com/discuss/) almost daily. If you are interested in aerial combat and/or WWII I would recommend this game! One of the few times I have ever changed my mind about a game
