Defines what sweet ass whopping is all about
I haven`t actually played the first double dragon, but i believe i can say to my self and everybody else that you don`t need to play the first or any other double dragon game out there, if you have the second, this game is totally sweet
In the game you choose to go at it alone, or with a buddy, and teach all sorts of punks and lowlives what the arts of real ass whippin is all about, as you fight your way through to save your girl from the clutches of your enemys. The game comes at you with with packs of wild chicks armed with flails and a variety of henchmen skilled in fly-kicks, knife throwing and bare-knuckle beatings, and on top of this blood thirsty, steroid pumped savage bosses will come at you when you are down, to break your remaining bones...but you can`t let this happen can you? Master the arts of kicking and throwing punches, fly kicks and spin kicks, as well as throwing people in the air after grinding your knees and your elbows into the skulls of all those who stand in your way.....oh yes is does not get any sweeter than this..
Besides the beatings, dodging knives and dynamites, and surviving death defying scenarios, you must also best the numerous traps as you must leap over dangerous platforms and so on
(The game has also two super moves, an uppercut, and a bone breaking super knee jumping attack, but they are kind of hard to do...and you don`t actually need to use them to complete the game,anyways.. you can probably check out the gamefaq to find out how)
If i wanted to be picky on anything about this game, i guess you could say that the backgrounds are somewhat simplistic....but hey, it doesen`t really matter, because you will be to busy to notice while beating up punks
Value score 8, cool enough. The game has a beat-em up genre, and is possibly repetitive......but not really
And lastly, when you encounter the places where you need to jump over stuff, its kind of hard, and before you get the hang of it, you will probably explore the depths of your curse word vocabulary...hehe + can`t forget the super knee attack. I personally found it to be hard to perform and i think it could have been done another way, but i`m sure there is a lot who do it with ease... plus or minus..decide for yourself
Even though the nes is not the most played gaming apparatus out there these days, double dragon is still a totally sweet game, and you will get hooked if you try it out..i don`t think i need to say much more about the game..sweet graphics, cool music, awesome action, intense street fighting..yeah!..
