I always thought so if Doom 3 would not be a shooter like the old one, with his big and very difficult carnage ... but a horror shooter, then the team should have done it right. Doom 3 story was so tasteless and immature that it got the core game killed. All that monster teleportation was nothing but a joke. While the gameplay did not remember anything from the old doom so we had 2 big problems in only one game. So, where the f*ck is Doom? Im waiting for THE Doom not to just a Doom.

@theCCyberDDemon I felt like Doom 3 still felt like old Doom, under the graphical overhaul, and creepier atmosphere. I mean, all the old weapons were there, the gameplay was the same, and it was a great reboot to a beloved franchise.

@Sk8more67 @theCCyberDDemon A great reboot? The Resurrection of Evil was more like it yknow, but it was still bad for me even with the fast paced carnage. A reasonable good reboot, yes.

Well, I'm grabbing doom 3 bfg day 1 as long as it's for $40.   Old game collections just can't be priced at $60 these days.   Kinda sucks they never talk about Doom 4 actually and just around potential concepts.   But I get it, DOOM 3 gets re-released because Bethesda found that Rage didn't sell quite enough.   So before any more resources goes to DooM 4, they wanna see if it still sells well enough to have an audience... even though Rage sold about 3 million units

Don't care how long it takes to make doom 4 i just hope they do a good job

@Powerwalk yes they should take their time and make it the best it can be and not rush it. but as always it will be done when it's done as they say.

id Software needs to stop 'watching' from the sidelines, and start shaking things up in the gaming space.  On the face of it, Rage seemed like it had potential, but tbh it simply felt like a mix between Borderlands and Fallout, and the post-apocalyptic setting is getting a bit stale.  Rage didn't go far enough in single player, and you can do multiplayer car racing much better in other games, so I have to wonder at their decision to make that their MP focus.

When Shootmania was announced, I thought "Why isn't id doing something like this?"  They just seem to have lost their way somewhere along the line, and other developers are tearing the rug from under them.  Maybe that's as it should be for gaming to evolve, but I can't help hoping that id will pull out another cool innovation or evolution to gaming, as they did in the past.

y don't they just make a new doom rather then re-releasing a game thats almost 10 years old?  The game wasn't that great back then now the only great thing about it "the Graphics" are dated as f**k

@DedakissDespite doom 3's age its graphics aren't that badsure its not all shiney and modern but it suits the gameand hey doom 3 is one of the most classic fps games there is (well doom itself would be more classic but I can't stand fps games looking like minecraft)calling them dated is an overstatement since they still look prettty decent and saying the game wasn't great back then is way off it was one of the best of its time and is still worth playing after all these years

@SketchSlayer I was never a big doom fan it was just shooting in the dark to me.  Half Life 2 had my love back in 04,

@Dedakiss Because it takes them an average of 6+ years to complete a single game. Since they released Rage last year that means that you can expect the next fresh title by the end of the decade. They'd rather make money now then in 2018! Personally, id's been dead to me since they bailed on Commander Keen to make shooters instead in 1992!

Wrong category? I found this under reviews!

This guy rambles too much. He labors the point that they are keeping an eye on competitive shooters out there, yet I don't see them making anything with it. Quake Live was released for free, that's great. That was also a long time ago. We want something new and exciting.
