although it lacks a good storyline, it makes up for that with excellent gameplay.

the story of this game is nice and simple, DK has been captured by King K. Rool, and it's up to you to save him. There is a little bit more interesting story in the instructions manual, but other than that, you just have to go save DK. This game is arguably the best side-scrolling game there is. The simple controls, and a perfect balance in difficulty allows anyone to be able to pick this game up and start playing. While diddy is able to run faster, and his cartwheels help in his speed, dixie is able to fly through the air. This allows for a nice diversity in characters, and creates new puzzles in finding items.

The game itself is not particularly hard, but not easy either. while early gamers may have great difficulty in playing through the levels, platforming pro's will be able to play through the levels and be challenging enough for them to enjoy. However, the one thing that really makes this game hard is the DK and kremcoins. While there is only one excellently hid DK coin, the amount of kremcoins per level vary. This can cause frustration in finding all the kremcoins however, especially when you only have a couple left to get.

The music in the game is what really helps in making this such an excellent game. David Wise composed the music for this game, and has created some of the most memorable video game music of all times. The music reflects the mood and theme of the stage so that you hardly even noticed the music. Games that have excellent music have always allowed the person to feel the world they are in even more, and DKC 2 does an excellent job in doing this.

By today's standards, the graphics are terrible, but if you were to go back during the SNES era, this had some of the best graphics there was, especially if you got the secret ending after collecting everything. If you think that a game can't be good without good graphics, then if this game can't change your mind,no game can.

The characters in the game are great also. While diddy and dixie don't ever talk, their actions at times, especially the ending, can be rather comical. characters such as cranky add a little humor to the game. King K. Rool, AKA Baron K. Roolstein, is a rather comical villian in himself, and the enemies are all original. While there isn't much personality for every character, there is still some, at least, more than most SNES games.

One of the great things about this game, is the lost world and it's levels. Only achievable by collecting Krem coins, there are a few harder levels that you are able to play. The boss for this is King K Rool again, and although slightly harder, still not very hard to beat. But, it allows you to access the secret ending, which looks really awesome.

Overall, in creating DKC 2, they created one of the greatest classics they could make. The game is accesable by all, and packed with challenges. The music is still inspiring people today to do remix's and has yet to be forgotten. With unforgettable characters, a fun gameplay, some of the best music ever composed, and hours of fun, there is no reason not to pic this game up.
