I've seen alot of the reviews, and they are pretty sad to look at... I think ALOT of people were expecting something different from this game. I'll say it upfront, this game is not DevilMayCry, It's not Metal Gear, please don't expect it to be, take the game for what it is rather then saying "It's not like DMC, this thing sucks!" As the game moves on it actually does get pretty cool, it does keep several things from the origional also, such as Characters, Materia, Leveling, possibly several other things that I haven't seen yet also.

Gameplay: The gameplay was a bit tough to get use to for me, the lock on feature was kind of hard to handle at first because you have to hover your cursor near the character to lock on, but even then you can 'de-lock' by moving the cursor another direction, there is no perma lock untill you kill someone. After I died several times I just took the tutorial so I could get use to the controls, and after a few minutes they seem really natural. There are a few annoyances though, as some have mentioned, you should be able to jump around on alot more objects or off of certain objects. Ex, you cant jump down a staircase, you have to walk down, same with most ledges etc. I also find the mele combat to be kind of useless, I've only actually killed 1 enemy using it... The limit breaks are pretty fun too, you can transform into a beast (just like in FF7) and go on a rampage.

Graphics: The graphics were pretty good, they could have been better, but they still work out well. The CGI scenes as usual are top of the line, but then again Square has always been the king when it comes to ingame movies.

Sound: The sound was pretty nice, the compose was no Nobuo , but the music fit the scenes very well. Though I really do with that Nobuo had done the music for this game, the guy is a miracle worker in that department.

Value: I'm not really sure if this game would have much of a replay Value, I haven't beat the game yet.. But as of right now, I'm pretty sure I'll be going through it again on Hard mode just so I can unlock everything, I don't think it would be to repetitive, the story is pretty interesting and the levels are fun to run through. You also get to play as other character's, I'm not going to spoil it for anyone, but Vincent isn't the only person you will be using.

Final Thoughts: I think this game is really good, I just think to many people were expecting a FF7 version of Devilmay Cry or Metal Gear but didn't get it. This game is an action shooter, exactly what I was expecting it to be, it has some really cool stuff to do in it. Junction Materia to your weapons for magic effects etc. Since the reviews are low on this game I wouldn't suggest going out to buy it right away, I did, I'm glad I did, but It seems most people would not agree with me. But try to keep in mind, this is not the exact same story as FF7, though it is good. Anyways, get the game, try it out and see what you think.
