A good overall game with all the basic attributes a game in the monster taming genre could have.

User Rating: 7.6 | Digimon World PS
Digimon World, another one of those monster taming games, isn't all that bad. You end up playing as a young boy who likes to play with Digimon. You get sucked into a world and end up helping a tribe of Digimon rebuild their city. The game starts you off with a random Digimon that can eventually grow into bigger and better things. The object of the game is to convince other Digimon to come back to the city. There's lots of environments to explore in your journey for other Digimon. The gameplay is really quite good. You dont get to play as your Digimon per se but, you yell out commands in real time while you play as the boy. And of course, like all the other monster taming games out there, your Digimon has bodily needs. You have to feed and take your Digimon to the bathroom but, this sometimes forms a problem. There are many times when you are caught off guard and your Digimon has to use the bathroom out in the middle of nowhere. Although the game attempts to solve this dilemma by allowing you to buy portable potties that you feed your Digimon( yes, you feed them portable potties ), sometimes they are unresponsive to it and won't take it or you find that you have just run out. The game obviously has some RPG elements to it since most of your Digimon raising is stat based. Your Digimon can grow in experience in a number of different areas and can grow either through training at the nearby gym or battle. Eventually, this will affect the gameplay directly since your Digimon will change or "digivolve" into stronger, more mature, Digimon. Your Digimon will also grow into specific Digimon depending on how you raised it in its earlier stages. If you train your Digimon in strength, when its time comes, your Digimon will digivolve into this or that. The older your Digimon, the more things you can do with it such as yell out more commands, push the Digimon a little bit farther its limit, etc. The fun part of it all is seeing your Digimon city grow with the Digimon you manage to convince to come back. They often do something productive and offer new services such as selling stuff, transportation, etc. There are literally 100's of different types of Digimon you'll encounter during your adventures and most of them can actually be added to your city. The graphics are a little outdated since the game is for the PS1 but, this definitely doesn't take away from the games fun. While the sound and particular Digimon can get annoying( sometimes they just come after you and get annoying after the 50th time. ), there are many secrets to find in Digimon World that just add to the games excitement. Go check it out; Digimon World for the PS1.
