Die Hard Arcade is a great deal different from the Playstation compilation of the three Die Hard Films (Die Hard Trilogy)

Before beginning gameplay, you can play a battleship game that rewards you with extra lives for use in the main game mode.

In Die Hard Arcade, up to two players battle their way through a skyscraper reminiscent of the original Die Hard film, picking up the various weapons (including some off-the-wall ones like a broom) such as rocket-propelled firearms, handguns, and other various weaponry to aid you in your ongoing battle.

The cutscenes feature an interactivity in which you are required to push a particular button sequence (similar to the much-later released GameCube/PS2 title, Resident Evil 4) to achieve a good outcome from the cutscene (though hitting the appropriate button(s) isn't required as it is in the aforementioned game; and there is only one ending, unless you include the game over screen)

Basically, it's the definition of a beat-em-up, following in the footsteps of such great series as Final Fight and Fighting Force.

The fighting has a depth, wrestling fans in particular will recognize the "Frankensteiner" move as being a part of this game, and of course fighting games provide excellent two-player fun and bravado.

This is an excellent adaptation of the original arcade version (which I played often at a local pizza joint) and I recommend Sega Saturn owners who either simply love a good beat-em-up game with firearm elements, or are fans of the Die Hard series in general, to grab a copy of this arcade port that doesn't disappoint.

Blessed Be
