Not only one of the best action-adventure games, but quite possibly Capcom's best work.

User Rating: 10 | Devil May Cry (Platinum) PS2
I just beat this game yesterday and all I have to say is wow! Just wow! Devil May Cry's got it all. Awesome action, mind-boggling puzzles, and epic boss fights. It just might be Capcom's best work. The game begins with a synopsis of the game's backstory. 2,000 years ago, the Dark Knight, Sparda betrayed the dark forces of the underworld and defeated their leader, the Dark Emperor, Mundus. Now a beautiful woman named Trish has arrived at the freelance agency, Devil May Cry, and recruited it's owner, Dante, to stop a recently ressurected Mundus from opening a portal to the underworld and taking over the human world. Dante and Trish arrive at Mallet Island, and gameplay begins there. The game has you fighting Mundus's forces with a sword and guns, and you can get more weapons as you advance through the game. The combat is very fast-paced, and you're ranked depending on how big a sword combo you can rack up. You can also fling an enemy into the air and shoot it airborne. The fighting is really fun, and is basically one of the main focuses of the gameplay. There's also exploration, and puzzles that can be hard, but not so frustrating you might as well just give up. The boss fights are fierce, often having you use a couple healing items to avoid dying. This is another awesome thing about the game. Ultimately, the game delivers on all angles, and is not a game to be passed up.-Dan B. Jr.
