This game really isn't that bad. Why does every one say it is?

User Rating: 7.5 | Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon PS3
Okay, now before I even begin this review, short rant i want to do: why do all the professional reviews I see on this game claim it sucks? Because virtually every time you click on a proffesional review for this game, you get this (ACTUAL RE-ENACTMENT!): "OH MY GOD!! This game's graphics are awful! This means this game sucks! JUST SO AWFUL! Stay away because the graphics suck! OH MY GOD! WHAT THE F***!?!?!?!?!?" Now, before I even continue, I will not say this game is perfect by any means neccesary, I just feel like it's getting a lot of hate fro no reason.

The plot is that Pox and Crypto have now opened a casino in Las Paradiso (an obvious take on Las Vegas) to get cash instead of their original mission to collect brainstems. The place is attacked by aliens from cryptos homeworld, he hears some voice in his head, basicaly, it's just a quest to find out what the hell is going on.

I will say one thing that the other critics were right about: the graphics in this game are absolute crap! I'm not even making this up! Ok, so their not as bad as other people like to say they are (as in like to the point where it actually effects the gameplay but that's another story) but they are still quite crap.

Sound is pretty good. Only problem is that on the PS3 version (and yes, i am playing the PS3 version that was released in europe) is that the soundtrack is sorta quiet. Now, I don't have surround sound so i don't know if that fixes it or not but overall, the soundtrack is pretty good. Voice acting is also good as well. And Gamespot, the voice acting is not "racist" as you like to say, ok?

Gameplay is where this game is at though. If you've played the other DAH! games a lot (not counting the one on the wii) then I'm sure you're going to be right at home with this one. Now, i said that the graphics are crap compared to other next-gen games at the moment but i will say that they HAVE been upgraded is a sense from the first two. Sort of...

You have all the usual weapons: zap-o-matic, disintigrator ray, anal probe, ion detonator and even the disclocator from DAH! 2 makes an appearence as well as the new weapons: the venus human trap, superballer and the black hole gun. Now one thing that bothers me is that they moved the fire button from R1 to R2. Come on THQ! There was no reason for you to do that!! Which also begins a short rant on games that use R2 to fire: WHY DID THEY HAVE TO DO THAT!?!?!?!?!? Sure, you get used to it over time but still, why do so many games use the R2 button to fire!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? And then there's the games that still use R1 to fire! Like, what the f***!?!?!?! To be honest, i could rant all day on that subject but then again, i have a game to review. All the weapons have been upgraded: zap-o-matic is now more effective against anything, disintigrator ray is more effective, ion detonator can now stick to targets, disclocator is virtually the same as before and anal probe can now fire mulltiple probes and also, anal probe can now damage other stuff like cars. I must sya, it's about time THQ did this to the anal probe and I'm glad: for once, they actually treat the anal probe like a proper weapon which I'm glad about. All your weapons can harvest DNA this time so you don't have to extract their brainstems to get the DNA. You can now fire weapons while using PK as well. Speaking of which...

Your mental powers have also been upgraded as well now: their more powerful and you can use them while using your jetpack now. You've also got all the normal mental powers: PK, PK throw, reading minds, snatching bodys, making people dance making them forget about you, extracting brainstems and transmogrifying stuff into ammo for your guns. You also have new stuff like the PK magnet which let's you draw other stuff to the thing your using PK on. You've also got something new called temporal fist. At first, it starts out as the ability to stop time, then you can use PK and move them around when time is frozen and then finally, you can throw stuff while time is frozen. This new power is very well done.

The saucer also has had a revamp: it looks better than it used to (being that Crypto crashed his old one) and all the weapons are cool. It's sad that the sonic boom, one of the 4 original saucer weapons has left the series, but it's made up by the arrival of the new weapons: the plasma cannon, the seeker drons and the tornadotron. All the weapons can now scar buildings and the landscape, which i must admit, i wanted that from the start.

I found this game really enjoyable to play and it is a decent jump to next-gen for the series but i can only say, this one is for the hardcore fans only, so you might want to rent it first.
