This poor mission pack makes you appreciate just how polished the main Freespace campaign is.

User Rating: 4 | Descent: FreeSpace - Silent Threat PC
Silent Threat on the surface features a decent story and a great set of features. Unfortunately, both are tremendous letdowns. Everything in this pack is notch below Freespace. The poor voice acting is the first thing you will notice when you load up a mission. It seems that instead of hiring an actor, someone on the ST team picked up a mic and read the lines.

The missions themselves are uninspired "more of the same". It's sort of a "Freespace: Greatest Hits" but whereas everything the original seemed exciting and context driven, the same things seem trite and overdone in ST. Even missions structure, objectives and other overall mission design features are sub-par.

The story falls into a predictable pattern fairly quickly. Whereas the FS story progressed from mission to mission, you rarely feel that the ST story has anything more than a peripheral connection to the missions you are flying.

To conclude, if someone told me this was a user designed campaign pack (I don't refer to the other user designed missions here), I wouldn't have been surprised. It is several notches below the caliber of a studio that released the original Freespace.
