MMO + Shooter, But what about end content ?

User Rating: 8 | Defiance PC
I really enjoy this game, it feels like a single player shooter.
It doesn't feel such a grind as most the MMO's are.
It's the type of game where you have to dodge as well as shoot, just go in shooting without any thought expect to die (well at least at the start).
Accuracy is a factor to killing the NPC's as well (head shots kill faster).

There are 6 main currency and level types that the game uses:-
EGO: This is the equivalent of level and as it increases you get rewarded with EGO Units.
SCRIP: This is cash to spend on vendors.
ARC SALVAGE: Used to add items/mods to weapons.
KEY CODE: Purchase special items.
BITS: Converted from real life money (I never use or bought). Bits are designed for boosts or mainly cosmetic items.
EGO Units: These are spent in a the EGO Grid (specials skill tree).

The EGO Grid is basically a grid with 4 main skills (Ego Power) at each corner
Cloak - Blur - Overcharge - Decoy. Then the boxes between the Powers are called Perks.
The Ego Powers can have up-to 5 EGO units spent on them and each Perk will allow 3 EGO units. Each time you spend a EGO unit on a Power or Perk its amount of effect will increase. I.E. A power Perk will increase damage by 5% on the first EGO Bar, 10% on the second amount of EGO spent on the same Perk then 15% on the 3rd amount of EGO spent on the same Perk.

As you move across the grid the different Perks will unlock. You have to move (and use EGO) across the grid to unlock then next Ego Power.

Its sound's more complicated than it really is. The powers and perks are very easy to understand and will suit your game play.

Your character has a load-out system (with more load-outs as you level) where you chose what main and secondary weapon you use (single key press swappable), which grenade you throw, your shield and vehicle, which Perks you wish to use (more available as you level) and your main power (again single key press activate).
You also have a choice of hats and cloths.

The weapons are vast but simple to understand: Pistol, Sniper, SMG, LMG, Rocket, Infectors and many more. All have power levels and some have special powers.

Each weapon and vehicles have a XP bar that increases during use (increasing the killing power). Some weapons will allow modifications in 4 areas, Stock, Scope, Barrel, Magazine. The modification are only available if there is a blank slot in one of the four areas. You can add slots to a weapon if shown (see more about weapons on youtube).

Missions give different rewards from weapon mods to vehicle and XP. The missions are shown on the map, from main mission, series mission to various skill missions (driving & shooting) there is also co-op and PVP events.

There are also Ark Falls. These are multi player (just turn up) events, (which remind me of Rift). All the missions have various rewards depending on the amount of effort you undertake in the event, shown via a scoreboard at the end.

The map is a far size and has an array of scenery, vehicles certain help getting around. I have enjoyed this non-subscription MMO game up to now, but I am now hoping for more areas and missions to complete. The game synchronises with the TV series so as they both progress more events appear.

The game isn't perfect as there are still a few glitches but the game designers are active and seem to make constant changes to iron out the problems. I have played since the beta and the small niggles do not affect the feel of this "Jump in and play" game, which (in my opinion) feels more sandbox and easy going than allot of the MMOs out at present.

This review only covers a small part of this game and I hope it will at least give you an idea about some parts of the game.
