It's like Katamari with paint but the only difference is Katamari is more fun.

User Rating: 5.5 | de Blob WII
When I first saw gameplay footage of De Blob, alot of critics have compared the game to Katamari with paint and being a fan of the Katamari franchise I was pretty excited to check out De Blob and it became one of the Wii games I was looking forward to in 2008.

It's now late in the year 2010 and during this I decieded to play De Blob that way I can play the sequel in the new year; however now that I've played De Blob, playing the sequel in the new year has become doubtful.

One of the positives of the game are the cut scenes which showcase the conflict between the main character De Blob and INK. They are geniunely funny and I found myself chuckling a few times.

Since the game basically has De Blob painting the town, the use of color in the game is really neat. Seeing town painted numerous colors gives you a good feeling and the missions such as painting buildings certain colors in a period of time and having to use a certain amount of color to paint landmarks and seeing the landmarks change from a boring black and white building to a colorful landmark also gives you a nice feeling. However these positves are held back by the negatives.

The missions get pretty repetitive by the time you get to the third level but what hurts the game the most is the controls. The biggest problem is the controls. To jump you have to shake the Wiimote and use the joystick of the nunchuck to move the De Blob in the direction you'd like to go.

I found that controling De Blob during the moments where I needed to do alot of jumping to be extremely troubling. There was moments where I missed jumps and when I would barely make the jumps, I would end up falling of the building and I would have to go back to where I was before to make the jumps again.

I really wanted to play and finish the game and to really enjoy it so that I can play the sequel but considering the troubles I had with it, playing the sequel seems unlikely.
