Daylight - an UE4 Demo

User Rating: 5 | Daylight PC

Let's get one thing straight before I get into this review; I am a “scaredy cat” and Daylight was more of an UE4 demonstration than it was an actual horror game. It did have its moments though, I wont lie, I jumped a few times but that was it and for me that’s not saying much. For example, when Doom 3 came out in 2004 I was 19 and it caused so much adrenaline to pump through my system I would go to bed afterward experiencing panic attacks. This game did not scare me, the writing was DULL, and the levels were bland and not exactly what I thought I would experience with the “procedurally generated levels” trick. I was on twitch a week before the games release and happened upon somebody broadcasting a beta or early release build. The levels in my game were practically the same layout; so replayability? Not so much.

The first thing that I noticed when I entered the game was how off the graphics felt. Don't get me wrong, its beautiful, but it was still off like something was wrong with the depth of field; I think it was that the game was also built for the Oculus Rift but it shouldnt affect non users in my opinion.

If you can try out a buddies or get it on a sale for a buck or two then go for it but it's just not a must play title.

I will add, though, that the twitch chat is a fantastic idea and my viewers loved screwing with me.
