This game is one of the funnest games you will play in the PSP!!!!!
Gameplay: If you played any of the Jack games from the playstation 2, then you will probaly know what the gameplay will be like. If you don't, then I am here to tell you. You play as Dexter, the side kick of Jack who is going on an adventure, searching for his friend Jack. At the middle of the journey, he found out that Jack is a prisoner in a castle of an evil bug king who is trying to destroy Jack and his friend Dexter. At the journey, you have a cool combo system, 3 kinds of cool weapons (not including the blue smashing weapon) and you have this amazing story depth which will take you about 17 hours to finish. The phase of the gameplay is smooth in every part of the game except in the city. What really makes the game really cool and awesome are the cool minigames and the challenges given away in the story. First, the minigames which are probaly the funnest and coolest minigames I have ever seen in any video game. You have about 7 kinds of minigames which are really cool. For example: You have this funny matrix minigame which the minigame is from the second movie when Neo is fighting all the clones of Mr.Smith. The minigame is played like dance dance revolution. Simply when the clone is coming to you, the second you see the direction or the button that it tells you to push and then you will kick, punch or even do a combo to him. The challenges in this game are suprisingly difficult because there are some challenges which you need to time your jump to get to the other side or you need to search from bottom to top a place for a certain monster or item. That is really cool but I would like to see this kind of difficulty not in the gameplay itself but in the bosses which are really easy to pass. The controlls in this game are really responsive and the camera angles aren't following you but the camera doesn't follow rarely so it is good. I mean, in bosses or in tough stages, the camera angles are really awesome but in a place where you need to ride to somewhere, the camera angles can be a little tuchy but after a second or two, it goes back to normal. The only thing that bugged me about the gameplay is the ending of the story which was kind of disappointed because, the game ended when you beat the last big monster and then Dexter says that he is going to rescue Jack and fight the master of the boss you just killed, so after a cut scene of Dexter killing the boss and flying away, that is it. You just go back to your bed room and then you try to collect all the stuff in all the levels to unlock characters and other stuff.
Graphics: The graphics in this game are some of the best graphics I have seen for a PSP game before. The stages are unbelivibly detailed with builidings and monsters, the stages are really long so it is really detailed, Dexter looks exactly as the PS2 version of Dexter and the animations and bosses are really cool. The only problem I had with the graphics is the phase which in the city when you have cars, buildings and other stuff, is sometimes slows down.
Sound: The sound in this game is really well done. The music in this game is awesome and gives you the feeling of an adventure-action game, the voiceovers are funny and well done and the soundtracks really well done and awesome.
Value: You can play this game for hours and hours trying to finish the game and unlock all the unlockables. The story mode is really long and you have a combo bug multiplayer which will keep you busy for a really long time. The combo bug is when you collect bugs throughout the storymode and then you can battle with them against your friends (ad-hoc) or go online and play against someone else (WIFI). Also, you have this Jak X thing which you connect your PSP to the Playstation 2 and then you can download the viechles which you can battle with them as combo bugs which is kinda cool. The last thing that will keep you playing this game for a really long time is the goal to finish the game in 100% which is really hard.
Reviewer's tilt: Overall, Dexter ends up to be a great Action game and probaly the best action-adventure game you can find for the PSP. The storymode is really long, the combo bug mode is really fun with friends and the number of unlockables and the challenges in the storymode will keep you busy for a really long time. If you played any of the Jak games on the Playstation 2 and thinking about this game, this game won't disappoint you. Overall, if you are looking for a great PSP game or a great action-adventure game this is the game for you.
