User Rating: 8.5 | Darksiders II WIIU
Darksiders 2 is an action-rpg. You play as Death, one of the four horsemen and you are looking for a way to save your brother War, from the previous Darksiders game by undoing the Apocalypse and saving the human species.
This game plays a lot like "Zelda". You enter these dungeons to find special artifacts or persons. There you have to solve puzzles, fight bosses and obtain new powers. Platforming is a lot like the "Prince of Persia - Sands of Time"-games with wall-running and grabbing onto ledges. The Ambient music in the background reminded me of the "Tomb Raider"-games.
It is a huge game with many dungeons and sidequests that will keep you occupied for at least 30 hours, probably more. The game has technical issues, glitches, pop-up, loading times, framerate, screen-tearing, etc. The art-style is superb, but the graphics are not worthy of the Wii U. It's a typical launch-port. The gamepad let's you browse menu's, look at maps and swap equipment on the go. It's obvious these menu's were not designed for the Wii U and icon are a bit too small. It istill works fine and it makes the Wii U version superior to the others. You can also play the game on the gamepad alone.
The combat in this game can be frantic and at times you can only see a mishmash of colours on the tv-screen. That said some of the bossfights are epic.
Despite it's problems, it's always a blast to play. the game has many amazing moments. It's no Zelda, but fun nevertheless.
