Death resurects a series that was dead to me!

User Rating: 9.5 | Darksiders II X360
When Darksiders came out I was greatly excited and then after playing it for a day or two the whole thing became monotonous and actually quite frustrating with some of the puzzles. In fact I sold my copy back to Gamestop. When I heard Darksiders 2 was coming out I immediately flashed back to how much fun (sarcasm in place here) I had with the first and wasn't all that excited about it. On release I checked the reviews the general populous agreed it was pretty good so a week later I bought it.

With AC3 being released DS2 sat unopened and unplayed for about three weeks. Finally I decided to take a break from AC and put Darksiders 2 in my xbox. Man can I tell you I was blown away! I think I habitually played it for days on end, negating sleep just so I could see what happens next. It has been a long time since a game has engrossed me as much as this one did.

I love Death's personality (so much better than War) and in fact found a couple of times laughing out loud about his comments (his interactions with the chancellor in the dead council are worth the price of admission). Anymore it is a rare thing for someone to feel like they got their full monies worth with games now a days. About on my third day it truely set in that I got my monies worth and more.

This itineration of Darksiders added some really cool features such as the fast travel is a blessing. I loved how when you saved your game the backdrop behind Death was where you left off and when you hit play it seamlessly brought you back into the game with no loading screens. Also I appreciated the little comic prolog everytime you started letting you know what you had done before you quit.

I read some reviews where people claimed the gamed cheated you into a cheap death or that enemies killed you in one hit, but all of that is untrue. Death has a health bar and it isn't one hit kills, and being how agile Death is if you are constantly being hit then you aren't playing it right. The loot system is a nice addition but my only problem was out of 100 items picked up you might (and I emphasize MIGHT) be able to use 1 or 2. Although on hindsight I might be skewed in that sinse in most games I play a warrior and strength is everything. Many items hurt strength ,which was bad in my eyes, but maybe others play a different way.

Well today I officially completed the game and even as such I still had much to do to get 100%. The New game + is a nice feature but since I chose that I have to start the game from the start again but now at level 21. I know this is a long review but I just felt there were a lot of falsities said about it that needed to clarified and I highly recommend picking it up....you won't regret it.
