Gamespot is very wrong on this one.

User Rating: 9 | Cyberpunk 2077 (Collector's Edition) XONE

I cleared it before I wrote this.

The Gamespot review is shallow, agenda riddled, and missed the point of the game.

The last 5 hours of story telling are easily some of the best I've seen in a video game. It's gritty, mind bending, and harsh. It's not a feelgood game in the least, and I think it's a much stronger story for it.

The bugs suck, it's a horrid mess of lazy code on occasion. I played through on an XBox One X, I had maybe 6 or 7 hard crashes, and one game breaking bug that caused a reload. With all that said, the game is still an 8 at the very least, and I might got to 9 if I were playing it on an XBSX or high end PC.

Even with graphics pop ins, and blurs...the game is gorgeously ambitious. Sure, some of the individual models look bad as they are loading, but there is a TON of detail loading. It's a city teeming with little details, and that made me overlook the technical difficulty of it. It's akin to someone saying they hated mount rushmore because they left all the gravel at the bottom of the mountain.

The story though, WOW, holy crap...wow. It's one of the few games I've played where the scope, detail, and theme transcend simple gameplay to something akin to a AAA movie. I wouldn't put it up there with an oscar title, but it's definitely something to rival a typical summer blockbuster.

Of course your character's dialog options and choices don't match with the character you want them to be. That was one of GSs main complaints...the story drives home why that happens several times and kind of hits you over the head with it. Your character is meant to have, without giving it away, issues. They manifest themselves in your choices and dialog. I thought that was a solid move by the writers.

All in all, Gamespot should be ashamed of publishing their review. Aside from the technical gripes (which were mostly on point), the storytelling, characters, and overall impression was a 180 from what the reviewer presented.

If you can get past the bugs, this is at least an 8...it's a must play game. (Just don't play it on an low end PC or PS4)
