while crash suffers from frustrating gameplay and annoying save system, its a good platformer in its own right.
The bad: annoying save system. Jumping feels odd at times. endless trail and error gameplay. some animation issues.
When i was 5, i didnt care how many times i died or fell off into a bottomless pit. i loved crash as a kid. as a teenager you start to notice particular parts of videogames. if you layed your eyes on the crash bandicoot case, youd think it was a pretty exceptional game with easy platforming. but youl be wrong. crash bandicoot is great but its really frustrating!
Crash was thrown out of cortex lab. knowing he was free was good at first but then realizes that he needs to go back and save his girlfriend.which means plenty of old school platforming for you.
the gameplay is basicly revolves around your atack button and crashes incredible athelict abilities (meaning, youll jump alot!)despite crash coming out over ten years ago, its still fun to play. but know this, after the first level or so, prepare for tons of frustration. There is always an annoying boss (with the exception of the first) that pummels you in the ground constantly until the tenth try, theres incredibly tough platforming tosed in with constant jumping, quick hitting and avoiding hazards (all which are tough to do), then you get the annoying save system where you collect three coins and NEED to complete the platforming part to save (or you can use the useless password system).so dont be suprised if you end up seeing the Game Over screen every ten minutes.but if you can get past these (like i did) youll enjoy the platformer of the past that still lives on.
The graphics are actually pretty good for a playstation game, the framerate remains steady no matter what you go through and environments are colorful and cheery. the only thing is is that crashes jumping animation looks stuttery and jumping will barely let you move causing some deaths.plus after awhile, the jungle theme can be tiring and repetitive
The sound is pretty predictable for its looks but they fit with the game.
overall, i still reccomend buying this, even if the score is a 7.5, i really like crash. But if your one of those people who dont have patients for such a game, look else where, but if you want some ol' school platform'n, then start scavenger hunting.
