Old favorite and really fun!

User Rating: 9.5 | Crash Bandicoot 3: Buttobi! Sekai Isshuu (PSOne Books) PS
The Crash Bandicoot series began in 1996 for the Playstation. The first game was quite popular, not as much as its 2 younger brethren but still popular. It was the game that introduced us to the Crash trilogy.
2 years later the 3rd game in the Crash trilogy released for the PS1 and was arguably the best in the trilogy. Again this is all personal opinion. The second one was just as if not more popular than the 3rd game. But I'm getting off topic here...
If you are not familiar with the crash games let me explain. Starting with the 2nd game, the formula goes like this: There's 5 worlds with 5 levels in each one. In each level there is a Power Crystal. Also in each level is 1 or 2 Gems. The Power Crystals are mandatory in order to beat the game. You find them just floating in the air at least halfway through the level and are in just plain sight, (honestly you cant miss them.) The Gems on the other hand, are optional. There's 2 different kinds of Gems. The regular silver ones which you earn by breaking all of the crates in the level or finding them via a secret passageway, and the colored Gems which you find in either super secret areas or in very hard to reach areas! If you're aiming for 100% then the Gems are mandatory, After each world you fight a boss and then move on to the next world.
Now that you understand the Crash formula lets get into the 3rd game:
In the 3rd game after you beat a boss you get a new power which will help you in the levels that are to come. Each level follows a theme which will change the design of the stage and look. Another new edition to this game is a new item to collect called Relics. After you complete a stage a clock will appear in the beginning of the stage and when you touch it, you'll be transported into 'Time Trial Mode', then a timer will appear at the bottom right corner and start ticking. Then you have to run to the end of the level within a certain amount of time. If you manage to make it before the limit is reached then you will be awarded a Relic. There are 3 different types of Relics; Sapphire, Gold, and Platinum, with Sapphire being the worst and Platinum being the best. It doesn't matter what type of Relic you get because it will count anyways. There's a total of 25 Crystals, 42 Gems, and 30 Relics.
Now lets talk about difficulty. The early stages shouldn't give you any trouble they're really a breeze. Once you get to the 3rd world you'll start to notice that the game is getting more difficult. Especially if you're going for 100%. I also forgot to mention the 6th world...
After you collect 5 Relics you'll notice a platform has appeared in the center of the over-world. This will take you to the "last" 5 levels (26-30), however only some of the levels will be accessible depending on how many Relics you have. Every multiple of 5 will unlock the next level.
A.K.A: 5 Relics= Level 26
10 Relics= Level 27
15 Relics= Level 28
and so on and so forth...
Now if you're going for 100 percent then you're in for one hell of a challenge. I'm talking about the time trials. The fact that you're rushing through a level trying to make the time limit without dying is really frustrating in the later levels. The later level time trials will make you want to rip your hair out of your head and smash your TV into 5 million pieces! Yes...they're that hard...
Even for me (someone who grew up with the game) I still to this day have never gotten 100%. I currently have 97%. The time trials take a LOT of practice to beat, (minus a lot of the earlier levels...). I've literally spent years practicing those trials. So if you're planning on buying this game then I highly recommend it. If you're planning on beating it with 100% then I wish you luck ;)
But anyways that's Crash Bandicoot (3) Warped for you. One hell of a platformer and a classic.

I give this game a 9.5 out of 10 :D
