15 years on and the same formula of gameplay is squeezed to death. Contra III was a classic and this gives the series a bad name. Admittedly the graphics are ok and the sountrack contains some fast paced dance but it is just too crap to save the overall game. The game play is painfully repetitve and if you memorise the location of incoming attacks you realise that while the game is called a 2D shooter it is in fact a 1D game. The bosses are interesting and original but when a character is running on a helicopters rotary blades you begin to wonder what the developers were smoking when they made it.
All in all this is trash and the series should have been retired after Contra III as the formula is too dated to appear plausible on a next gen console.
Avoid at all costs - and avoid people that like this at all costs Buy Metal Slug instead
