Conan surprised me in a good way.

I found Conan new for really cheap. At the time I had never heard of it, but for the price I figured what the heck. After all I loved the Conan movies starring ARNOLD, Yah. I knew this game didn't have anything to do with the movies. That didn't stop me from taking a chance on it and I'm glad I did. Conan is not a great game. Conan is a solid game that uses what great games did before it. Conan is derivative and unimaginative. Conan is also good unadulterated straightforward button mashing fun. It plays most like a cheap god of war knock off. There are several weapons to choose from, tons of enemies, and the occasional quick time event. The visuals are a little weak. The enviroments aren't real varied and don't look all too spectacular. The game isn't ugly, yet it won't blow you away either. I did not notice any major visual glitches during my playthrough. Load times were a little slow. The character models are a little blocky at times too. You will face many, many enemies and your character is expectedly powerful. You will also get to save many damsels in distress, all topless(praise Krom). The music is very fitting to the setting and felt about right. The voice acting is spotty, including Ron Perlman as Conan. I suppose he did an OK job its just I'm used to that voice coming out of Hellboy. The is Conan so the story is virtually irrelevant. The controls were fairly simple(the gameplay is fairly simple) and responsive enough. I had one very serious issue with this game. The difficulty was very uneven. The enemies were pretty easy to deal with most of the time, but then the game would put you in an awkward situation like turning a crank while being attacked. The final boss encounter was also infinitely frustrating. Unfortunately Conan's difficulty fell squarely in the cheap category.

In Summation: This is not a top tier game and you should be able to buy it cheap. That said, its not perfect, but it will surprise you with some solid 3rd person action.
