One of the best Strategy games ever.
There are a huge selection of buildings and units present in this game.Of course all of them won't be present in the beginning.You will start with the most basic buildings and units and as you progress through the story,more buildings and units will be available.Each unit has its own strengths and weaknesses.Therefore you can spend some time to experiment on the areas where they excel in and also the areas where they are completely useless.Each building has its own purpose as well.For example,the EMP Cannon is capable of firing an Electromagnetic pulse which will immobilize all mechanical units that are affected by the EM pulse,and power plants are essential to supply power for your base.You will have to build a barracks in order to train infantry,a War factory to train mechanical units and a Helipad to train aerial vehicles.There are also various other buildings available such as Tech Centers,Radars,and Stealth Generators.Although Tiberian Sun was released in 1999,this game is based in the 2030 era so expect some futuristic units and buildings.
Just like each unit has its own strengths and weaknesses,each faction has its own strengths and weaknesses as well.GDI has very powerful units but most of them are quite slow and NOD has stealth technology which can cloak an entire base but their units are not so powerful compared to GDI.
In my opinion there are quite a lot of levels in this game which get harder as you progress.Therefore you could spend a huge amount of time to complete the whole game.From the third mission onwards of either GDI or NOD you get to choose which sub missions to undertake in order to complete a full mission.For example there will be missions where if you complete a particular sub mission,it will make the next one easier. According to my opinion the A.I. that is present in this game is actually outstanding.There may be a few instances however where the A.I. is not smart enough but still it is really superb.For example a mission named "Blackout" which is available in the NOD faction,is a mission where the GDI communications are down due to an Ion Storm.In this mission the first wave of enemies that you see,comes to investigate the area which your base and your units are located in.Once they realize that you are present in the area,one of the soldiers attempts to go back to the GDI base to inform them of your presence.If you manage to kill that soldier,enemies will not attack you because they are not aware of your presence until you attack them.This made me realize the outstanding A.I. that is present in this game.
After every mission there is a cutscene.In some missions there are even cutscenes that are shown to you during the mission itself.The cutscenes that are shown in missions can be called as Transmissions.
Let us not forget that this game was released in 1999,so the graphics in this game are not that good.But still sometimes I think it is so amazing that it made me think it was a game that was made not too many years ago.For example you can see a shadow of most probably every building and unit in this game,and the cut scenes are sometimes almost realistic.
In conclusion Tiberian Sun is a game that you should try out.For me this game is an instant classic that I really love to play.By the way this game might be capable of giving you a very hard challenge if you want to complete this game in the hardest difficulty.
