Have you ever played a game that gave you a nervous breakdown?

User Rating: 1 | Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight PC
PROS: music is good.

CONS: graphics seem either recycled or outdated, no building, strategy is not necessary, missions are not challenging, does not have anything to do with C&C, need to be connected to the internet ALL the time, unit sprites are recycled clones with little creativity, the fact that this game was allowed to be put on shelves.

Anger, sadness, and shock, these are only some of the few words that can sum up my feelings to this excuse of a conclusion to a great game series. I am a huge C&C fan, I have played all the games and they were always well worth playing, but when C&C went into EA's greedy hands, they started butchering it. Don't get me wrong, C&C Generals and Zero Hour were great, RA3 was too short, C&C 3 and the expansion are excellent, but this, I have no idea what this is. C&C 4 Tiberian Twilight was supposed to have one of the most epic conclusions to a game franchise ever, but instead EA just hocked a loogy and gave a big F you to the fans out there. The story this time takes place in 2067, 15 years after the third tiberium war and the Scrin invasion, tiberium has overrun the Earth and mankind is on the verge of extinction. However the Brotherhood of Nod's leader, Kane, says he wants to help contain tiberium and despite 3 wars, GDI accepts Nod's help. So after some time, most of the tiberium is contained but fanatic factions from GDI and Nod start the fourth tiberium war, so you are a GDI commander named Parker who lost his eyes in a battle and you can choose to side with GDI or Nod, either side leads to a canon ending. Now lets get to the good points, the music does sound recycled but it has a nice techno beat to it, but savor it for just a minute because it all goes downhill from here. The first big disappointment is the fact that the game does not allow you to build a base, now right then and there that is already an insult to the C&C fans, you just can't remove building up a base from a C&C game, instead you are given a number of units to do certain objectives. Instead of actually destroying your enemy, you have to collect enough resources to win, this isn't a Command and Conquer game, it's feels like King of the Hill, and its the same for every mission. There is absolutely no strategy involved in this game, it's so simplistic to get through each mission, a 6 month old baby can figure it out, and the missions as I said are the same and have no challenge in them making the gameplay just boring. The developers also forgot to put in the Scrin and the Forgotten, we don't get any resolution as to what happened to them, why put important side plots that are never resolved then? Then there is the fact that the game can crash on you because you have to be connected to the internet ALL the time, even if you aren't playing online you need to be connected, otherwise if you are in the middle of a mission and disconnect, the game closes down on you. The game also seems to suffer from graphics that are recycled from C&C 3 or are just plainly out date, there is a lack of creativity also for the tank and unit designs as well as they seem to be recycled sprites. Now lets focus on the biggest downfall of this game, Kane, we all know Kane and love him as one of the best villains of all time, but in this game they really tore him apart, we learn that he has always wanted to save the Earth despite wanting to spread tiberium all over the world and his actually an alien from another planet. Yes you have read that right, Kane, the most awesome villain of the C&C games is an alien who has been stranded on Earth for a thousand years, and now he wants to go home (insert ET joke here) using the Scrin tower that was left standing in the last tiberium war because the tower is actually a teleporter, and not only does he want to go home, he wants to destroy tiberium from the Earth. In the end, you help Kane get home but not before being mortally wounded by a GDI officer, and Kane rescues you, and then he goes through the Scrin tower and Nod disappears and the world is saved, but you die.

When I finally finished this game, I actually had a nervous breakdown, I was so shocked and angered as to how this game ended that I was actually crying over how EA ruined one of the best game series ever, I have never seen such a terrible way to end a series so bad. I do not need to say that this game is horrible, this is not C&C. C&C had an excellent story going, it was the most revolutionary game series ever, it had complex characters and a mysterious storyline, and this should not be the way to end such a great game series. It makes me and many other C&C fans wonder, one thing, why was this game allowed to be put onto game shelves, this game is a not only an insult to the fans but an insult to the legacy of Westwood and the developers must die for it. Westwood, you need to take your game franchise back, it is in the hands of a company who cares more about money than actually caring about a franchise and the fans and will not care how angry the fans are about this game. The only reason that you should get this game is to destroy every copy of it, this game does not deserve to be a collectors item even for the biggest C&C fan and does not deserved to be played let alone exist. You know what's so bad though? There are people praising it because, they were worried it was getting stale. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! That's how C&C has always been, build a base, gather resources, build a huge army, and go kick a**. It's like having a Star Wars universe with no Jedi or Sith or a Superman comic book series where Lex Luthor isn't the villain but a nice guy instead. Can you imagine how angry fans would be if they saw that? All I can really say now is this, thank you EA for ruining a really great franchise and angering fans like me and I certainly hope the developers for this game are either fired, killed, or beaten to death by other fans. Stay far away from this game, it is not worth your time at all.
