Not a bad port to the Gameboy but you're better off sticking to the arcade and console versions.

College Slam for the GB wasn't as bad as it sounds but it wasn't all that great either. It pretty much does everything its console and arcade cousins do...just in a slopper format. Its pretty much your stereotypical portalable port of a console game: butchered graphics, phased out features, and less entertaining.

My Breakdown:

What's Good:

- Stays true to the original
- Can be fun in doses
- Not bad to pick up and start playing just to kill some time

What's Not-So-Good: There really isn't much middle ground here

What's Bad:

- GRAPHICS. This is one of those few examples of how the visual effects of a game can totally kill the experience as a whole. Especially when it comes to the power ups...the outrageous effects of them is what gave this and NBA Jam its charm. The effects are just UGLY on here...almost as if Acclaim didn't even try when designing the game's shell.

In all, stick with the console version. There are a lot of great sport games that showed up on Gameboy along with its console counterparts...but this unfortunately isn't one of them.
