This is a skillful rally car racing game, it's well made and little things make it a good game if you like the genre

User Rating: 8.5 | Colin McRae Rally 3 PS2
The Good:
Well make tracks, cars, landscapes, solid game play and some funny vehicles to try.

The Bad:
The speed compared to the speedometer feels wrong,
Graphics do not hold up to modern standards (but still perfectly drivable)

A rally game you have your car and try to race it along a single lane track to be the fastest, your the only car on the track even in 2 player mode, so why is this game better than others I believe comes down too one thing, the developers have added little details that it is hard to notice they make the game special.

One of the first things you might notice is 2 modes stages and championship.

Stages is a one off drive down a track and you can add your time to the high scores, this is one or two player but unlike other games it has an alternate mode so you only need one controller or you can have two. One let down is the hard to see corners and obstacles in split screen, so alternate is useful. One more use is comparing cars you can drive the same track with two different cars one after the other and compare times. In stages you can use any car you have unlocked there is a good choice and things like jet fighters and Baja buggies are also fun to drive

In championship there is one car Colin Mcrae's car it is a good car and you can choose parts for it and unlock more. There is a good level of difficulty it doesn't matter how well you do, you still go on so developers made it hard to win.

The driving is realistic; it feels like you are driving a rally car. The voice of your co-driver although it might not seem so at first is quiet helpful the only bad thing here is the speedometer doesn't really work it might feel like your going 30 you look down and it says 70.

One of my favourite things about the game is the small things like a ford (river crossing not the car) on one stage, a helicopter on one and a really hard bit where you can drop into a ravine. Now I don't know much about rally but I guess that unlike Gran Turismo where they measure the track they are unlikely as accurate but it feels nice with good scenery although new consoles make it look bad it feels nice just driving down a country road at sunset.

To sum up things like codes for an online score bored (that may no longer exist) and brilliant scenery it's a good game if you can look past the flaws and find it in a bargain bin at your local shop you will likely be able to squeeze about 10 or more hours of game play from it. I think that with new high speed better graphics machines some people forget that we used to not need these brilliant graphics.
