Coded Arms has returned for another go around on the PSP. While it's improved there are some flaws that really hurt ..

User Rating: 7.5 | Coded Arms: Contagion PSP
Coded Arms makes a return to the PSP (kind of a surprise) and offers a good game, but it needed more time in development.

The Story tells the usually Sci-fi story plot, cut scenes with voice overs help but it's really nothing that hasn't been seen or done before. The Fmv are a good way of breaking up the action and can be replayed after unlocking them. There also artwork to unlock too.

Gameplay is a mixed bag of good (graphic, character & weapon design) but poor AI ( you know the dumb kind) is bad for any shooter. Control are easy to adjust to if you played other shooters on the PSP. I prefer option C (face button for movement, Nub for aiming, R to Shoot, L for jump, and the d-pad for other options) it works well. The game has a bunch of different control types to try out. You can also invert aiming if you want and the sensitivity is adjustable.

There are a bunch of cool weapons to use and upgrade, but they have to be found first. Usually weapon and upgrades can be found in levels , experiences point can be gained from hacking stuff or replaying levels in the trial mode. The levels give the game a cyber world look with cool matrix affect when stuff is destroyed. You also have the ability to hack into enemy systems and turn their defenses against them, really comes in handy. The hacking mini-game if fun at the higher but there's a price for not getting it right.

Overall Coded Arms Contagion is a good game, yes it has some flaws but the experience is worth trying. There's a simple online multi-player mode where 8 player can battle it out in death-match, team death-match, you know the standard fps stuff ( a feature more PSP games need). Plus playing the trial mode is a good way of gaining more experience point which are used to upgrade weapons and armor.
