Basically, the game look like a PSX game. The 3d is awful, the texture are low-res and even the 2D art are unimpressive. A quick look at the screenshot will give you a good idea.

If you think Recettear control was bad, Chantelise are awful. There's no controller support so you can only more your character on a 8 axis. Also, you cannot change them and you're stuck with the arrow key to move, and the keys Z, X, C and V for action. And the camera is hardly helping. Which lead to frustrating dead that bring you back in the town.

To avoid any spoiler, I'll not talk much about the story. Basically, the story is kinda cute, but remind me a lot of Recettear and doesn't offer much. Still, if you really liked Recettear story, you may like it more than me.

Fun Factor 1/10

The dungeon are simple. You enter a big room, and cannot advance the other until you kill every monster (and there's a lot per room). So be prepare to pass 80% of the game time bashing the Z key for the same 3 hit combo. There's also some interesting magic combo (that remind me a little of Magicka), but frankly, I don't remember having any fun while playing the game killing monster/bosses, exploring dungeon or talking to townspeople. There's also no lvl, you gain higher HP by buying expensive potion and raise your stat by equipping items. Even the fishing mini-game (which is overused in RPG) feel old. And sadly, Chantelise doesn't have something special like the shop in Recettear to forget the bad RPG experience.
