Castlevania has GOT to be one of my all time favorite series ever made! Every installment created has never left me with a bad taste in my mouth......well.......... after the first four games on NES and SNES. Drac X was the **** though (first CV played tbh). Anywho after SOTN was overrated to high hell (aria is CLEARLY the superior title) I was getting a little tired of the new age RPG CV's and decided to look to the past to see why the series was a hit. But I didn't want to explore the craptasmic realm that was the original CV1 so I decided to look at remakes.....and sold my soul to emulate a playstation game called "Castlevania Chronicles" Which has changed Rondo of Blood from being THE BEST to SECOND BEST!

Story: It's the same ish. Simon Belmont travels through SPARTAAA...I mean CV to kill dracula (Spoiler, he fails and his future generation must do the dirty work) Thats all there is (and ever was to it) and all there really is for most CV games before Aria of Sorrow. Anywho most CV games have crappy stories anywho so why should I even bother downing this one? It was the late 80's for god's sake...

Gameplay: To be honest it was always the stiff ass controls that turned me away from CV titles. After playing this, the stiff ass controls we're basically the core of the gameplay. Where most platformers focused on getting to the end with little work, these titles required EXTREMELY cautious movements to get there. The slow ass walking doesn't help you feel like a badass in any right, but thats where the challenge comes in. I guess I should explain how it's different considering you vets are going "Uh DUUUUUUUUUUH!!!" Well to bad, I can't cause thats really all there is too it. It's a remake but there isn't much they tried to do differently from the original. Even the arranged version doesn't help much (except maybe make Simon look like more of a girl than usual and makes ol drac look WAAAAY better than his SOTN look.). The arranged soundtrack is FRIGGIN LEET! or 1337....or w/e...it kicks the almighty ass. idk how konami pulls off some damn good and catchy tunes at every corner! (cept SCV4....that soundtrack blows cept for the first song......which got steroided in this game.) There's also that Japan only remake which was on some weird pc system that japan was too stingy to share with us folks (then again idk why they would considering it would be too expensive anyways....). Anywho the arranged version is the one that seems to matter more (considering it's the only one thats playable.....hell you play that other mess if you want to...)

Anywho.....I gave this a 9 cause Chronicles just owns....simple as that.
