OMG! This collection absolutely rocks...I love it, but why didn't i give it a full 10? Read the review...

Let me begin by saying that retro games are like Marmite... You either love them or hate them. It's not like you'll ever play a retro game and say 'yeah, it wasn't bad, i suppose'. You'll either say "Wow, i love that game...it's just like i remembered it in the arcade!', or you'll say: 'Pile of cack...".

I love retro games, so the score i've given it reflects that love, but why - if they are so damn good, didn't i give it 10 out of 10?

Some of the games have TERRIBLE controls! Forgotten Worlds is great on the Xbox, but on PSP...It's almost uncontrollable. Yes, it is an arcade perfect copy, but the controls stink. It's not all Capcom's fault though. They tried to make the best possible use of the dinky PSP, but if Sony had put two thumbsticks on it...then it'd be great!

All of the games (and there's 20 to have a go at) will keep you glued to the screen for ages (again - if you like retro stuff), but the best of the bunch - as far as i'm concerned - are: Speed Rumbler
Strider and 3 Wonders.

In fact, when i saw Speed Rumbler was on the collection, that's all it took to make me buy it :) The rest could have been absolute crap, but that game alone is just arcade heaven!

What can i say about the graphics? Well, they are arcade perfect, but as you can probably imagine, they don't exactly push the limits of the diddy handheld's power. Sound? Well, again, it is arcade perfect - right down to the grotty speech in Street Fighter! Some out there might argue that Capcom could have cleaned the speech up a bit, but i guess if you want arcade realism, that's what i remember it sounding like. Take the recent Star Wars collection that was redone - adding young hayden at the end of Jedi! Ok...it all fits in with the latest information given by hte first three films...but it isn't what we remember...so therefore it isn't better! playability? - Arcade perfect again. If you've ever played one of todays glossy looking FPS games, and finished it in a day, then you'll understand where i'm coming from when i say these games are arcade perfect when it comes to toughness!!

So, overall - i'm mega impressed by Capcom's collection and will most certainly buy the second collection that is due out later in the year. BUT...if you don't like retro stuff, then this will not impress you one iota!

For those that love retro...We're in arcade heaven!!
