I bought this game on sale back in February 2024. I was still playing Modern Warfare II up until then. I was not planning on getting the new one but I did want to play zombies. I did play Modern Warfare III during one of those free trial weekends. Yes, the gameplay feels more optimized than MWII. Now that I have the full game, I do enjoy it most of the time. I play multiplayer and zombies mostly, with a bit of Resurgence. I recommend purchasing this game if you have not played Call of Duty in a long time or are still on the fence like I was, still playing MWII. The gameplay is smooth and improved. The movement feels fluid and the gunplay is sturdy. I mean if you have not played this in a long time, now is a good time to play because this is the best COD has been at in a while. Even going from MWII to MWIII you can tell the difference. Fair warning though, it is COD, and COD can get competitive. My K/D hovers around 0.80 after about 100hrs in. That's why I only give it a 6 since they could improve matchmaking, I think.
