A great, realistic, awesome Japanese fighting game.

User Rating: 9.3 | Bushido Blade PS
This is one of the most realistic fighting games I've ever played. No life bars, no time limits, no excessive talking, none of that crap. It's REAL FIGHTING. If you are hit somewhere that would not kill you does not kill you. It you're hit somewhere critical, like the head, then you die nevertheless of how many times you've been hit before. The damage and swordfighting graphics are shown by a simple key:
Orange blood: Non-kill hit
Red blood: Kill
Green flash: Block
White flash: Swords clashing together but no block
yellow flash: Sword hitting object
It's really neat. on the PS the graphics are kinda squarey, but the PS2 eliminates those squares and makes the graphics reasonably clear. (I hope no one is still using a PS one because then my graphics rating of 8 would be reduced to a 6.) If you are hit in the arm you do not take "damage", you simply lose the use of that arm. If you are hit in the leg, you lose the use of that leg and go down on you knees and your attacks are limited. To make it more realistic, you can surrender from this position by pressing SELECT, and your character says something like "So it has come to this. Kill me."
An overall great game with an interesting story. The characters are well-based, and there is a great selection of 8 different weapons (Katana, Nodachi, Naginata, Saber, Rapier, Sledgehammer, Broadsword, and Short Sword.
Just plain awesomeness.
Have fun killing weird ninja dudes!
