It is what it is. Old fashioned vulgar first person shooting fun.

Bulletstorm learns from some of the greats and it does a pretty good job of keeping the fun rolling. Don't misunderstand, this is not a break through game that will leave you saying wow, but it is lots of fun and worth a play. Bulletstorm is big brash over the top action and makes no apologies for it. The visuals are fantastic. The colors are vibrant and the images are crisp and clear. The game is spent on a resort planet and you will see lots of interesting locales. You will scale crumbling hotels, giant hydro electric dams, sewers, etc. They also throw some huge images and set pieces at you. There will be big mechanical wheels chasing you, GIGANTIC indigenous dinosaurs, crashing buildings to outrun, heck you even get to control a big mechanical dinosaur of your own. Like I said its all about over the top flashy in your face type stuff. You play as an assassin turned space pirate named Grayson Hunt. He is on a mission of revenge against an oh so gnarly evil general who set him up. His plan is to go all kamikaze on the general's command ship which results in everyone being stranded on the resort planet I mentioned earlier. Now he has to find his way off the planet. His only help is a crazed chick and his best buddy who has been stroggified. Did I mention grayson has the vocabulary of a sailor? Some of his Duke Nukemesque quips are funny, but it grows thin as the game wears on. A guy can only take so many penis jokes really. The controls are always spot on and the shooting mechanics are as good as they should be. Bulletstorm does a good job of trying to keep the combat interesting by implementing a point system based on how creative your kills are. You can get pretty creative too by using enviromental objects and a special weapon called the leash. The leash allows you to grab opponents and sling them about. The rest of the weapons are the usual fps fare, but they are fun enough. The music was surprisingly entertaining. I never experienced any glitches or hiccups. As a whole the story is kind of lame, The campaign is about 7 to 8 hours long. The difficulty was about average really.

Opinion: Flashy, crude, mindless first person shooter. But boy it looks great and is good fun while its last. May make you laugh if you have the sensibilites of a 12 year old like myself.
