1st Impressions: Brothers In Arms is without a doubt the best WWII shooter ever made.

User Rating: 10 | Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 XBOX
I've played a lot of WWII shooters in my gaming days. Call of Duty and Metal of Honor are great series, but along comes a new series, Brothers In Arms, and it completely sweeps the competition. This is without a doubt the most authentic and realistic WWII shooter experience you'll find on a current gen console. The whole single player mode is based on the 101st Paratrooper Unit, led by Matt Baker, who you play as. Baker narrates most of the game, saying what he thinks of his men and how they've become his family, which is all very moving. What makes the game even more authentic is the fact that developer Gearbox Software actually brought the surviving members of that real-life-unit into their studio so they could make the actual story as acurate as possable. They even recorded actual sounds from actual weapons that were used in WWII to add to the realism. But enough about the realism, let's talk gameplay. Brothers In Arms really does a great job of putting you into the action and really making it feel like you're fighting Germans in Normandy. It's also much more complex than most WWII shooters, adding a squad element to the game. You begin without a targeting retical, which is realistic, but you can turn one on if you simply must have one. The visuals and sound are spectacular and really make this the ultimate WWII shooter. If you're looking for the best WWII shooter on current-gen consoles, this is it.

Gameplay: The gameplay is superb, really throwing you into battle fighting to keep your men alive. Everything goes right here.

Graphics: This has some of the best visuals in a current gen game. The shadows at night, and the way the bullets hit the trees during the day add to the game's already realistic feel. Perfect here, too.

Sound: The sound effects and the character's voice-overs make them guys who you want to keep alive. They all have their own personality and that adds a lot to the overall quality. Another perfect score.

Value: I picked this amazing game up used for $17.99, which is a great price for a game this good. You simply must buy this game!

Final Thoughts: This is the "Saving Private Ryan" of WWII games. It's outstanding and is a must play for all WWII enthusists. If it got a 10 because of first impressions, just imagine how good the rest of the game, and the Xbox Live multiplayer game, can be.
