User Rating: 8 | Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway (Limited Edition) PC
I have tried the previous Brothers in arms games, and i personally hated them. The visuals were dated, the gameplay stale and overly difficult, and unsatisfying shooting. Well, Hells Highway seems to have fixed all of that with much improved visuals, easier gameplay, and a gripping story that had me glued to the screen.

Gameplay

There are 3 different types of gameplay that youll encounter in HH. First, when you have 1 to 3 squads that you are controlling throughout the battlefield, suppressing and flanking your enemy, Second, when you are alone doing more narrow linear shooting, and lastly, some sequences where you control the turret and machine gun of a tank. The gameplay is all pretty linear, but the satisying feeling of suppressing and flanking an enemy keeps things fresh as does the awesome Slo-mo cam. I got some really good screenshots from this game, like body parts flying in the air after being shot to bits by my tank, or more often just straight up head-shots played in glorious slow motion. It looks awesome to say the least.

Graphics

The visuals have gotten a major boost since the last 2 games. HH uses the Unreal 3 Engine, which makes for some great looking environments and environmental effects as well as some sharp character models that bring the game to life. There were times when the framerate would dip during a gunfight, but it wasn't so frequent that it hindered my performance or anything. Overall, a very good looking game that my friends were easily impressed with.

Story

This game does expect you to have played the previous 2 games, as it brings in many references that you may not get, but over time things are more explained and easier to understand while still being very emotional and deep. You are Matt Baker, commander of the 101 st and you are opening a "hells highway" so that the allies can get through to Germany. You fight a lot of germans, but everything else is so satisfying it doesn't really matter.

In the end, this is a very good game just brought down by a couple bugs, graphical drops, and a reliance on knowledge of the first 2 games.. Its a very fun game that i would recommend to anyone that has a little patience.
