Breath of Fire II

Good story, average gameplay...

Breath of Fire II is the sequel following the adventures of the dragon warrior Ryu and his companions taking the fight to evil. I was very excited when I purchased it, but I've only kept it to complete my collection of the BOF series.
Compared to the first, some of the features have been upgraded, the story takes more twists and turns, and it's definitely a much longer game. But...
I found the game mechanics less to my liking. The battles could be shorter if not for the silly animation when changing from the world screen to the battle screen. I suppose I could have a bias opinion because I like the first one so much; nevertheless, I've owned BOF2 for about 4 years now, and I've only went through the game in it's entirety once.
There are a multitude of tasks to perform to reach the end, so this game will definitely keep you busy. Unless you're a hardcore RPG or BOF fan, I'd rent it first. *
