The FPS that keeps on giving.

The first Borderlands come out in 2009 and its highly anticipated sequel was released in September of 2012. The game is a blast from start to finish. You start out left for dead in a snowed down train wreck where claptrap find you and you're mission begins. You end up joining a resistance against the evil Robot company which is headed by main antagonist Handsome Jack.

The resistance is lead by Roland, the commando from the first borderlands and also consists of everyone else from the first game in which you encounter and aid along the way. You get to pick from 1 of 4 classes with another two from DLC. There is the Commando, Siren, Assassin, and the Gunzerker. Available for purchase are two other classes the Mechromancer and the Psycho. Each class consists of three different skill trees which are unlocked after you get your special character ability. Every class varies a lot in what their skill trees offer which make it a lot of fun to try all the characters.

But what really separates Borderlands 2 from all the other FPSs is the loot. Tons of different weapons, class mods, grenade mods, skins, heads, shields and relics. It is almost impossible to have two completely identical random characters with all of the unique loot. The skins and heads are a nice touch giving you the opportunity to spice up your character cosmetically. The class mod are really important because they compliment your skills and your play style. They usually give bonus stats to particular skills and whatever class mod you are using will be displayed as the title next to your name. They really improved the grenade mods and weapons from the first game by making more creative uses and effects.

Another very valuable asset of Borderlands 2 is the hilarious dialogue from some greatly drawn characters and a very entertaining plot. It's catoonish appeal meshes with this very well and afterwards leaves you a very fun and entertaining game. There are also plenty of pop culture references which some will catch your eye.

Let's not stay from the object of borderlands though and that is shooting and looting. They don't throw too many random, miscellaneous tasks at you. There are some but it's mostly just killing really. The great thing is that with all the customizations you can prevent it from being repetitive. There is huge array of challenges in which reward you badass rank that you can spend to give your profile addition statistics. The badass rank applies to all characters in a given profile so playing multiple characters has it's advantage in that regard.

All in all Borderlands 2 contains 100s of hours of game with its main mission, side quests and plethora of DLC; provided you have the money for it. All the DLC is pretty reward in regards of loot and good plots. The DLC also give a different number of raid bosses and offer a new current for buying some high end gear. The headhunter packs are very short and limited so consider them last. The game is weak on its end game content IMO. You spend all this wonderful time questing, opening chest, slaying raid bosses, pretty much doing whatever you can to get the best gear and then you don't really have anything fun to test it on. Sure the raid bosses offer a good challenge for end game and in turn they offer the best loot back to you but I still felt more end game elements were missing.

Borderlands 2 will probably always be one of my favorite FPS from now out and if you got the time it would probably grab a spot in your heart too.
